Day In A Life Of A Gallipoli Soldier

The Deadliest Night (as dead as a soldier)

25th March

Dear Uncle John

Once we got to Gallipoli Peninsula the first thing we had to do was dig out 6 x 5  trenches. After digging out the trenches we were all tired and thirsty. One of my mates had a bottle of water and shared it with me and the others. Later on we all tried to sleep but all we heard was loud, banging gun shots. Only two soldiers could sleep but the rest stayed up.

It finally hit morning and the two soldiers woke up. We all sat there starving and there was only a little bit of water left. Later on we heard more gunshots so we thought we should shoot back.  We all got into our positions with our weapons. We looked at my friend Sam who counted down. We all shouted and struck back. All of a sudden we heard silence. We looked over and saw someone throwing something near our trench. BOOM! Then there was silence.

Theatre Challenge

Everyday Theatre visited Ruapotaka and we had a theatre challenge with Room 11.

We had to write a note based on the characters in the video game.

When we won against Room 11 we got a Games master badge.

Below is the note I wrote.

Dear diary,

Since Becca has my room and I sleep on the sofa in the lounge I don’t know where to hide my diary. I'm afraid that mum might find it and read it and find out that I have problems like having Brian and Becca around and about me and Jack at the carpark. (It’s as painful as not being with your family for a very long time)

Pretty Pits

Summary- Some women around the world are dying their underarms. That’s a bit unusual but hairdresser Roxie thinks that all women should do it.

Opinion-  I think that I would not like to dye my underarm a bright color and I think that it’s weird. If my family read this, they would be shocked like me.

Pink Bubble Gum Flavoured Broccoli??

Summary- Mcdonald's have created bubble-gum flavoured broccoli. It did not work exactly well. The bubble-gum flavoured broccoli was an attempt to  prove that McDonald's promotes healthy food.

Opinion-I think that it shouldn't be made for people to eat. I also know that I wouldn't taste this even if it was sold here.

My favourite Film Festival Video

Summary

My favourite Film Festival Video was made by students at Stonefields School. It’s called Lazy Boy. Lazy boy is about a young boy who sat on his couch all day doing nothing except call his mum to come all the way home from work just to get the remote which was on the table near him.

Opinion

This was my favourite video because when it comes to my little brother sitting on the couch he becomes lazy and I end up doing everything for him.  I’ll also make sure my brother watches this so he can learn not to be lazy and I can get revenge on him.

Halloween At the white house?

Summary - Some trick or treaters received their Halloween candy from a house which is usually off limits - that's right- The White House!

Opinion- I can’t believe president Obama would do something like this. I expect John Key wouldn’t do this.

See Lava?Run

Summary The Kilauea volcano on Hawaii has been erupting continuously since 1983. Usually the residents are lucky as the lava flows away from their homes, but this time it is oozing slowly their way.

The lava is moving about nine metres a day and authorities say they may have to evacuate homes in the coming week.

Opinion  I think that this is a bit scary. If I was living around there and the lava was headed my way, I would pack up and move fast!
